Getting Ready

Getting ready for your pet's spay or neuter may be scary, but our team of highly trained veterinarians perform this routine surgery using the best safety measures, in a warm, welcoming environment.

Lesson Outcome
Learn how to get ready for your pet's spay or neuter.

Before any cat or dog is readied for spaying or neutering, your Brook Farm vet will give them a thorough physical examination and review his or her medical records. General anesthetic is used during the surgery, and, while there are rarely side effects, we will never put any pet's well being at risk.

Once you've made your spay/neuter appointment with the Brook Farm team, there's a simple checklist you should have ready the day of your pet's procedure.

  • A pet carrier, if you use one.
  • A blanket or towel to keep your pet comfortable on the ride home
  • Any medications your Brook Farm vet has prescribed
  • Any post surgery follow up instructions

Remember to leave any emergency contact numbers with a member of the Brook Farm Team when you drop off your pet.
